In the turbine market some starter generators have brushes that have metal content. Also some commutator segments & slip rings & fuel pump & hydraulic pump bearings have silver & tin film plated on. In the past these items were discarded but with our new mechanical removal methods scrap silver can be economically recovered. Today many companies are placing silver bearing materialsin the scrap metal stream. When sold for scrap you are almost never paid for your metal content. As of December 2014 COMEX COPPER (Cu) is $2.96lb LME Tin (Sn) is $8.40lb and SILVER (Ag) is $261.00lb so it only makes sense that you pursue your non-ferrousmetal value as often as possible.
HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOUR BRUSHES HAVE RECYCLE VALUE:
- COST: When you purchased new brushes the ones with metal content are usually 2-10 times the cost of standard carbon graphite brushes.
- APPLICATION: Brushes that have metal value are usually in signal transfer, weather exposed, corrosive areas or in low voltage, voltage drop situations shaft grounding brushes and brushes that run at a high altitude almost always have metal content.
- COLOR: Brushes that have metal content have a lighter color than a plain carbon brush. Many time the copper cable is plated silver.
- WEIGHT: If you weigh a metal content brush on a small scale against a similar size known plain carbon brush the metal brush is always heavier.
- ANALYSIS: Send in to us a sample of your brushes we will give you an exact chemistry analysis and make you a value offer . Please do not send without calling us first samples must have a CSA number on them or they will be returned.

When you have generated at least 30lbs please call us we will sort your items at your facility while you watch and pay you for them.
